Bella’s POV

I hadn’t seen Jacob since what happened at his house; just under two weeks ago. I had tried to phone him, but Billy always answered and said he was ‘busy’. I had debated on actually going over to La Push, but Seth said that wouldn’t be the best idea. He said he just needed time to come around.

Jacob had helped me through a lot since I moved to Forks, and I had just thrown it all back in his face. Eve though I had chosen him over Jake, Jake still stood by me. I decided, no matter what Seth said, I had to see him.

Grabbing my jacket and truck keys I made my way down the stairs. Charlie - as usual - was sat flaked on the sofa watching baseball, when the door creaked as I tried to make my exit, he swivelled round on the sofa.

“Hey! Were you going?” he frowned, it was late, and dark.

“I was just going to go see Jake, is that okay?” As soon I mention ‘Jake’ his face relaxed He didn’t care what time I went to La Push or what time I get back.

“Yeah, sure, you have some fun kid!” He turned back to the TV.

I didn’t have to worry about Leo trying to stop me from going. He didn’t mind the wolves, as they didn’t mind him - as long as he wasn’t a threat of course.

Once I got there I pulled into Billy’s drive. There was lights on, that was good. Before I was even at the door I felt hot arms wrap around me and pull me into a hug. I turned round to see Jake staring down at me.

“Jacob!” I clung onto him with all my strength. I heard him chuckle, looking up I saw a smile playing o his lips, but he was more frowning. “What’s wrong? I’m sorry for everything I said! I didn’t mean it! I j-just…” I started crying. His frantic hands stated to wipe them away, but more followed.

“Bella! It’s okay, don’t worry about it! Please don’t cry, I don’t want you to cry…”

“You’re not m-mad at m-me…?” I asked peering up into his eyes.

“No! Of course not! Why would I be mad at you?” He asked, with a bigger more toothy smile.

“The things I said the other day…”

“Those things you said were right, and I’m sorry.” I shook my head wildly, how could he think those things were true?

“No, Jake, I was wrong! I’ve been trying to speak to you, but every time I phoned Billy said you were busy, or whenever I tried to come round, Seth said I probably shouldn’t… I though you were avoiding me…” I said truthfully.

“You thought I wanted to avoid you?! I’ve been trying to contact you ever since what happened! My phone wouldn’t work and my Dad said that I couldn’t go out!”

“Really?” I asked, a little happier that he hadn’t been trying to avoid me.

“Of course! I had to speak to you… I’m so sorry!” He said whilst realising me and crouching so we were eye level. “I’m sorry for everything I said that day… Will you forgive me?” Stupidly I just stood, staring and not answering.

“No!” His face fell instantly, I then realised what he thought I meant. “I mean no as in nothing you said that day was wrong, you were right, and I’m the one who should be sorry!” He looked at me awkwardly then shook his head. “I’m so sorry, please, just forget anything is said that day. Okay?”

“Tell you what, let’s just say that we were both right and that’s that.” I smiled and nodded my head. Once again I was pulled into a strong grip as he hugged me again, then he released one arm and led me into the house.

Billy wasn’t in, so at least there wouldn’t be any arguing between them. We talked for a while. He asked about Leo, I just told him the truth. After a couple of hours it started to get late, Jake said he’s drive me home. I said I’d be fine, but he insisted. In the end he drove, the whole way I was stuck to his side. I got home and he said that Leo was close. We said goodbye and he ran home. Sure enough I went up to my room after saying goodnight to Charlie and he was sat in my mum’s old rocking chair in the corner. I smiled and waved as I ran up and sat on his knees and buried my face in his neck.

“Hey.” I said softly.

“Hi, you have a good time at Jake’s?” I smile to myself, he wasn’t protective like he used to be.

“Yup, it turns out Billy didn’t even tell him I called. He also said that he hadn’t been trying to avoid me.” I said happily.

“Told you, didn’t I?” He grinned his big toothy grin. Sitting back I stared into his eyes. I knew he had feelings for me, I had for him to, but I told him not yet because I wasn’t ready to be in another relationship so soon. Leo said he would wait for me for as long as I needed. I thanked him, what else was I supposed to do?

Like he used to do, Leo would stay with me during the night. He would sit staring out of the window thinking, he never told me what about. We never really spoke about his human life. All I knew was that his mother and father both died, he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and there was a coven there. They changed him then just left him, like what had happened to Carlisle…

I smiled at his logic. He was always right. He lifted me into his arms then stood and sat my in the chair. He went over to the window turned to stare and me then jumped out. Unthinkingly, I ran to the window, re-opening it as he had closed it and looked outside. I couldn’t see anything though. Next thing I new there was a tapping on my shoulder. I spun round to see Leo grinning widely.

“Peek-a-boo!” He whispered in my ear and pecked me on my cheek.

“Where did you disappear to?” I asked confused.

“I just nipped to my flat…” He said, still grinning He put an arm around my shoulders and then the other arm under my knees. Lifting me off the ground he sat me on my bed and then sat in front of me.

“Why?” I asked, still confused.

“I wanted to get something…” I gave him a look that said ‘come on, tell me’. “This..” He said as he put a small box in my hand, “is something I have wanted to give you for a while…” He opened up the small box as my breath caught in my mouth. In the box was a heart pendant on a thin gold chain. “It’s for you…” he told me.

“Leo… It’s gorgeous but…I can’t accept this!” I cried. He shook his head and smiled.

“Here…” He took the box from me and picked up the necklace. He swiftly unclipped the latch and put it round my neck. I tried to out away but he just leaned closer. Once it was securely around my neck I looked down at the pendant.

“I can’t thank you enough…” I said quietly. I looked up into his topaz eyes and smiled. I moved my hands from under his to his face and slowly leaned closer. Just before our lips touched I closed my eyes. Leo didn’t pull away, he moved on hand behind my back and the other tangled in my hair. After a few moments it was over. I opened my eyes to see his were already open. Moving my head down to were his heart would be, I settled down to sleep.
