Please review or rate! The Cullens, Jacob, and Seth move to New Hampshire, where a new vampire comes into their life; but not before a devastating car accident alters Bella's family forever. EXCERPT: Edward sat back down on the bed next to me, and held the neatly-wrapped package out to his daughter. “This is from your mother and me; happy birthday,” he said gently. While her eyes were transfixed on the package, I shot him a silent thought. What is this? He just smiled and left me hanging. Renesmee slowly turned and walked towards the package, thrilled at the prospect of an unexpected treasure. She took the box and carefully untied the ribbon. When she lifted the top of the box, she revealed a stunning gem in the shape of a heart. It was identical to the one Edward gave me after graduation, but instead of a flawless and colorless diamond charm meant for a bracelet, it was a blood red ruby attached to a delicate, silver chain and meant to be worn around her neck.

It was dawn, the magical time when my vampire eyes could watch the colors of the world shift into their daytime hues. My husband, Edward, lay with his head on my stomach; his hand absently traced the line of my arm from my wrist to my inner elbow.
We didn’t need sleep, or even rest, but this was the time of day I thought of as our rest time. The hour or two before our daughter woke up had become the one time of day Edward and I could finally be still, and let our thoughts wander without interruption.
I gently dragged my fingers through Edward’s bronze hair, and contemplated the weeks and months ahead of us.
It had been three years since we decided to extend our stay in Forks, and the time had come for us to leave and make a new home. We hadn’t intended on sticking around at all after I became a vampire, but after Jacob brought my dad, Charlie, back into our lives, and the threats we’d faced from what felt like all directions had disappeared, our lives settled into something bordering on idyllic.
After that, I don’t think any one of us could bear to leave and disrupt the peace and tranquility that had descended upon our lives together.
But change was inevitable, and to prepare for our eventual move, Carlisle and Esme bought a secluded property in New Hampshire. It had been left vacant by its owners for more than 40 years. Apparently, their only daughter’s body had been found, murdered, on the property. Although they couldn’t bear to sell the home while they were still alive, they also couldn’t bear to live there after she was gone.
After a year’s worth of renovations, performed by a company that specialized in updating historic properties, the main house was ready for us, and Esme was ready to turn her personal attention to the remainder of the extensive property.
The estate had more than 500 wooded acres, a sprawling main house, four guest houses, a pool, pool house, tennis courts, stables and seven additional outbuildings. It was the perfect hideaway and playground for a family of eight vampires, one part vampire/part human child, and a couple of werewolves.
But I was apprehensive about the move to a new environment. With the exception of a few excursions to Denali to see our cousins, an annual trip to Isle Esme, and a quick visit to see Nahuel in South America, I hadn’t spent time among anyone other than my family and my friends on the Quileute reservation since my wedding day three years ago. I knew I could handle being around humans; I just worried about the trouble an unknown situation could potentially bring into my life.
My fears were not unfounded. During my first two years in Forks, I was a virtual magnet for bad luck, bad timing, and life-threatening trouble. I once joked to Alice and Edward that it was a miracle her family didn’t kill me themselves for disrupting their carefully constructed lives. Much to my horror, they confided to me that they actually had discussed killing me after Edward first saved my life in the parking lot of our high school.
After hitting a patch of ice, a friend’s van slid out of control and headed directly for me. No one else had seen Edward race to my side, but when he grabbed me and stopped the van from crushing me with nothing more than his hand, I witnessed something that should have been impossible.
At the time, I was still an unknown quantity to the Cullens. Much to his frustration, Edward could read everyone’s mind but my own, and he couldn’t see if I would talk about what happened. My potential for exposing them was a risk they couldn’t take, and Jasper was convinced I was a threat that needed to be removed.
But Carlisle, whose respect for human life was immense, and Edward, who was already falling in love with me, fought for my right to live. It was then that Alice, who had the ability to see the future, had a vision that shocked them all: me, as one of their family.
It took me weeks to get the image of my beautiful and flawless family, sitting around their dining room table discussing whether or not to end my life - like some sort of twisted Norman Rockwell painting – out of my head.
“Ahhhhhh,” cried Edward in frustration.
He sat up grabbing the sides of his head, and sank onto the pillow beside me. “Alice is driving me crazy with her thoughts.”
In the century since he had become a vampire, Edward had learned to tune out the many voices in his head when he needed to, but if anyone wanted to get his attention, they only had to direct their thoughts to him. His sister, Alice, was especially adept at this.
I rolled my eyes. “Did you expect anything different? Alice lives for days like this!” I said.
“Yes, but it’s six in the morning,” he pouted angrily. “Ness doesn’t wake up for another hour.”
I smiled at him sympathetically. No matter what our day might entail, ending our alone time was always the hardest part of it. He pulled me towards him and kissed me urgently, knowing it was only a matter of minutes before Alice assaulted him with her thoughts again.
There was a knock on our bedroom door.
“Mom, Dad? Can I come in?” called Renesmee.
I looked at Edward and sent him my thought silently.
That’s weird. Did you hear her wake up?
