I CAN'T SIGN IN.

Okay. There are a number of possible reasons why you can't sign in.

1) You're typing in the wrong password.
Solution: Click "Forgot password".

2) You got the email with the password, but it's still not working.
Solution: Copy and paste the password directly from the email

3) You're typing in the wrong username.
Solution: Check your spelling and try again.

4) You're typing in the right username and copying the right password,
but it still won't let you sign in.
Solution #1: Enable cookies in your browser.
Solution #2: Check the "Remember Me" box.
Solution #3: It's possible that you registered with the wrong username. If none of these solutions work for you, your best bet is toregister again, with a different penname and email address.

I keep getting an error that says FATALERROR NOT CONNECTED.

So do I.  I think it has to do with the efiction software, and not our server.  However, the last time I tried to update efiction, I nearly lost all the data contained on this site.  As much as I don't like seeing these errors, I'd rather keep all the stories safe.

To recover a lost password, click here and enter the e-mail address with which you registered. Your password will be sent to you shortly.

How do I change my password?

Under Edit Bio should be a password field.

What if I lost my username?

You have to register for a new one, sorry.

How do I submit stories?

If you have not already done so, please register for an account. Once you've logged in, click on Account Information and choose Add Story. The form presented there will allow you to submit your story.

How do I submit fanart?

Art must be posted as a story, in the "Story Text" field.

• Go to ImageShack (or some other similar site).
  
• Upload the file in the "Upload" area, and press Submit.
  
• Find the DIRECT LINK to your image. It's the last one.
  
• Go to the Add Story link. In the "Story Text" field, find the button for "Insert/edit image". Paste the DIRECT LINK into the first text field. Click the blue "Insert" button.
• Fill out all the other required fields (making sure you submit in the Art category, at least) and press Submit.

Why is my story/art not showing up on the site?

Stories and art from most authors/artists have to be validated by the administrator before they appear on the site. Once you have proven yourself to be a trustworthy author that can follow the submission rules, your stories will automatically show up on the website. The validation period is usually a few days, but wait a week before worrying.

What kinds of stories are allowed?

What are the ratings used on the site?

We use a simple three-rating system: Everyone, Teen, Adult. Explicit fanfiction -- also known as Smut -- is not allowed on the site.

What are the story classifications?

Stories are classified by type of submission -- usually by length, type, or time period. These categories are subject to change at any time. When submitting, only choose one category for your story.

Sometimes the site tells me, "You are not authorized to access that function." What can I do to fix this?

The site automatically logs you out after a certain period of inactivity (a period of not clicking anything). To fix this, check the "Remember me" box the next time you log in.
